The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu
5.0

This book made my heart happy to read. I found it to be a wildly interesting and intelligent epic story that weaves together history and all sorts of math and science while asking the big questions that science fiction is meant to go after. My biggest complaint is that I have to wait for the next two books of the trilogy to be translated into English, making me seriously question why I didn't spend the time required to learn Chinese at some point in my life? I highly recommend this fantastic book to all science fiction fans. I'm still relatively un-read in the genre but I really enjoyed the opportunity to read a book written from the framework of Chinese cultural influences. As Liu Cixin discusses in his afterword, science and technology and conflicts as a result of sci fi topics are globalizing forces. We are enriched when we see these stories told from global perspectives.
