i am not sure if it’s the author or the story itself that didn’t work for me.

but this was such a boring read for me!

it’s not my favorite or even particularly liked shakespeare play to begin with but this book made entire retelling even less fun and so utterly boring!

i never had much luck with the full novel works of atwood that i read so far so maybe it’s just her writing style itself that doesn’t agree with me if it’s not a short story.

or maybe this didn’t work for me because i wasn’t really interested in reading about people in prison performing a shakespeare play.
but i was still interested and curious how that was going to go and that’s why i read it.

but felix was utterly boring in its tone and behavior. and i don’t understand why he was chosen as the character to follow and why we need to get so many pages about his life beside the entire play being put together.

let’s just end this rant and say this was sadly another book by this author that i tried and failed to enjoy.

i can’t really say anything helpful to recommend or discourage anyone from deciding if they want to read this or not.
i would recommend trying the first few pages -after the first little bit of the play starting- and if you like it? go for it.
if you don’t enjoy it so far? leave it, it won’t get better.
