Pretty Little Liars
by Sara Shepard
I was a big fan of the TV show since it first premiered, but I hadn't read any of the books until now.
There are some major differences between the two. Some are merely physical appearance, which is much easier for me to get around. But the more glaring differences, like ages, and who moved and lived where, were harder to wrap my head around. Even though the books came first, I found myself thinking that the TV show was better...which is really an odd opinion for me to have. Usually, I much prefer the books. In the books, the main characters all seemed so shallow and whiny. I also did not care for the constant label name dropping in the books. I'm all for accurate descriptions, but this might have taken things too far.
All of that being said, I found myself sucked in and not wanting to stop reading, just like I was sucked into watching the show. It's the kind of story where you just have to know more, and even though I know how the show ended, I feel like there will be even more differences I haven't come across yet in the book series that will prove to be intriguing. I must know more! I'm already excited to move on to book two, but am waiting until I have a decent amount of time to get started, because I know I'm not going to want to put it down.
