The Fifth Season
by N.K. Jemisin
I don't even know where to begin. This is all heart breaking and fascinating. And all this earth magic and they've only scratched the surface. I had to put this down for a few months because the way the orogenes were being treated plus the way people were reacting to survive the beginning of the season viscerally mimicked what was happening in the real world around me. It hurt too much to read. But coming back I was once again in awe. This was not a happy book. There were small bright spots but this is dark and decidedly unhappy. I respect that. And want to read the rest.
