Magical realism at its finest! A gorgeous novel that should be on your TBR list if it isn't already. Esquivel crafts complex and compelling characters, heightened by vivid and sensual language. The flow from one story into another (often only connected by a thin strand) along with the not-of-this-world incidents gave me Toni Morrison vibes all throughout the novel (specifically Beloved and Pilate come to mind).

I would definitely recommend this to literary readers and specifically anyone who enjoys magical realism.
