paddlefoot55 's review for:
Broken
by Annie Jocoby
3.5 stars.
I was asked by Ms Jocoby to read and review Broken, and after reading the synopsis I was intrigued.
I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the characters, Nick and Scotty.
Scotty - gah, I just wanted to shake some sense into her. Yes, things had happened in her past that made her gunshy when it comes to men, but then shutting every single man out of her life, leading to coming a lonely, lonely woman - when she needn't be.
Nick - at times he went from sexy, successful architect to 13 year old girl with a first crush. It was like he lost his man card at times. And grrr he bitches about the kind of woman he wants, then gets lead around by the short and curlies by the women he says he doesn't want.
No wonder Scotty was hesitant!!
But these could be just me.
I enjoyed the story line, though a couple of times the timeline felt jumpy as we switched POVs. The dual POVs did not bother me though, as they sometimes do.
There were some great secondary characters, who gave dimension to our MCs, and then there were those ones that we just have to hate. Yep, sure did hate this one!
It took a little while for me to connect with both MCs, but as the story continued, I began to feel more in tune with them - even though they frustrated the crap out of me!
Just as I was reaaaally getting into it, and it seemed like our MC's had got their crap together .... things happen and we are left with a cliffhanger.
This did intrigue me enough that I want to read the next books.
