Does It Hurt?
by H.D. Carlton
Let me start off by saying I loved this a lot more than I thought I would. I had heard some mixed things about it, so I wanted to keep an open mind. The author's note that warned of triggers for this book really threw me for a loop, because I'm not used to so much... sexual depravity? But to be frank, without spoiling anything, it definitely wasn't THAT depraved, nor was it too much or at all like the rumors I've heard - and I'm somewhat vanilla of a reader, so that tells you something if the smut didn't bother me.
It takes a minute for the book to really get going and for the reader to know what's going on exactly, but once it does, it's a nonstop wild ride! I honestly could not put this down because I wanted to know more and uncover the mysteries of Sawyer and Enzo and everyone and everything else. It really surprised me just how invested in the mystery and twists and turns I got. It's erotic, dark and full of suspense. The plot was insane, but in the best way. This is dual POV, enemies to lovers, dark romance, full of action, mixed with some horror and suspense. It honestly reminded me of the Mindf*ck series by S.T. Abby and that's one of my faves.
Also, I might just have a new kink.
