For the Love of English by A.M. Hargrove
5.0

I borrowed this book from Prime Reading. I have never read this author before, but I liked the blurb and decided to check it out.

English is a little girl. Her father is dealing with a custody battle and ends up feeling like he needs a wife. Enter Sheridan, English's teacher. Of course, there are struggles and slip ups and they both realize that they have possibly made a mistake a few times along the way, but both are mainly concerned with English.

The one thing I want to say about this book that shoves it into the 5 star range, in my opinion, is the light it shines on the court system in custody battles. Courts often favor the mother regardless of what the mother's own history is and don't often look at how good the father would be for the child instead. It's truly a shame that so many great dads get such limited time with their children because of an outdated viewpoint. I hope that books like this will open some eyes to the situation. We need judges who can look at the whole picture and each parent's history and relationship with the children involved before they make a decision.
