Last Summer on State Street
by Toya Wolfe
challenging
informative
tense
slow-paced
This was definitely a character study. I grew to love all these characters. It's not a very happy tale but it shows a great coming of age for FeFe.
This will be a summer of changes for the neighborhood where 12 year old Fe lives. There will be shootings, police raids, innocent lives taken, accusations that aren't always accurate and some that are. Slowly, people that live there are forced to move.
It's a short 210 pages, but it packs a punch. It makes you feel so many emotions. Makes you wait to protect these innocent children and help the ones who lives drastically change
