Audiobook version. I listened to this over a 24 hour period because I needed to know Gerta's story and how it ended. Fast paced, with enough background to help younger readers understand to some degree what life was like an the challenges that people faced. Highly recommended book about a time period many do not know much about - we read so much about WWII, but not about the aftermath for Europe and how hard things were for many.
