Water's Wrath
by Elise Kova
This is some of the best foreshadowing I’ve ever read, and it’s so much better the second time around. Though this is book four out of five, there are pivotal plot points that resurface in the finale as well as in the next series, Vortex Chronicles.
In terms of character development, I thought it was good that Aldrik and Vhalla let their relationship simmer down. They became more independent, Aldrik worked to better himself, and they developed a more platonic relationship built on trust rather than passion. While I still question Vhalla’s forgiveness, I do acknowledge that she still holds Aldrik accountable while still loving him despite his flaws.
Baldair. BALDAIR. WHY?! This just wasn’t fair. Like Sareem’s death, it was too sudden and cruel. He didn’t deserve that. I understand that Larel’s death made Vhalla a stronger character, but why kill off Baldair?? It was too much.
This was probably my least favorite book of the series, but it is still excellent. The Air Awakens series is absolutely phenomenal.
