I really enjoyed this book and devoured it in a single day. If your only interactions with Holly Black’s writing has been her Folk of the Air series, you may be in for a shock. If you’ve read more of her work, this reads as classic Holly Black. In particular, I’ve seen a lot of anger over the “cliffhanger” ending… but that’s nothing new from Holly. She lets the readers decide the eventual fate of the characters, and as frustrating as that can be for those of us who need firm closure, there’s also something wonderful in it. Charlie’s future can be whatever you imagine it to be.
