Bi4Bi, Latine and Filipinx mcs, first female pitcher in the MLB, fem dom, and so many more buzzwords drew me to Wild Pitch. I'd been on the hunt for another baseball romance and found it here. I loved every second of it. Cat Giraldo is a new auto buy author for me. I loved her character work entirely too much. The romance was soft (read: sweet, swoony, fluffy) and hard ;) (read: hot, steamy, filthy, explosive).
I'm always nervous going into sports romances that they'll skip over most of the sport in exchange for the romance, but Giraldo knows his stuff. All the baseball scenes made me feel like I was down on the diamond with the team. I was fully invested in this team finally winning their series ring. Obviously, it also added that bit of forbidden relationship between a captain and a rookie, which was so fun!
Read this if you like sports romances, queer romances, captain x rookie, tearing down gendered sports, fem dom, a man who gets on his knees for multiple reasons, and caretaking scenes.
