Finally read this classic to see what all the hype was about. Overall, Fitzgerald's writing shines with symbolism and social criticisms that still hold up today. Gatsby is the embodiment of the American dream driven by the accumulation of wealth and status. Nick serves as the narrator of the story who by the end, sees the hypocrisy of those around him after meeting someone as genuine as Gatsby. The story makes you think about class in America even today, and the privileges of those with the most power and wealth in society. A solid story and worth the time of you're looking for a good classic.
