Book of Night by Holly Black
4.0

This standalone book delved into the world of shadows and how they can interact with others. It yielded a world where the magic in it was controlled from the idea that shadows could be controlled, morphed, removed, sold and even possibly become solid enough to do someone’s bidding but completely separate from the person.

As a thief and con-artist, Charlie gets sucked into a major project and even a multiple murder mystery in search of the Libre Noctum. The villain throws their weight around because they’re rich and manipulative but Charlie is even better than the villain anticipates.

Some confusing sections of the book led me to the star rating because I was not sure of the point of the story but by the end, all loose ends are tied up.
