Shingaling
by R.J. Palacio
This novella is about Charlotte, and while it's a good addition to the series based on the content, there's very little to do with Auggie himself.
This story tells about the girl dynamic in middle school, and how friendships change and often are different even in different settings. Like how Charlotte's friends are different in lunch than when she's in dance. There's also a good lesson about giving people a chance and not making harsh judgments based on what you think you see. And there's a lot to learn about growth and understanding who your true friends are based on their actions and who has been there for you consistently.
I think this novella is important, especially for girls around this age, to read and see that it doesn't have to be as bad as some people make it out to be. Sometimes, all you need to do is talk to someone to see that they aren't who they might seem at first.
