I had fun with this book. It took me a few chapters to get used to the slightly odd feel of it, but once I had I found it very enjoyable and also felt more of an emotional connection than I had perhaps expected from a story about a vampire girl, a yeti and a pet pumpkin (among others).
It's a short, fast paced book that falls on the younger end of middle grade. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed, and would have benefited from spending more time on the development of a couple of characters.
I love illustrated books, and this one is heavily illustrated by the author herself. I love the cute, quirky front cover (foiled in bronze) and the orange sprayed edges.
Overall an adorable, fun book that many kids (and adults) will adore.
