The Dead Zone
by Stephen King
Not so much a Horror story as a slow-burning psychological thriller with a supernatural twist. The only scary part is that Stephen King in this novel has predicted the possibility of an incompetent, arrogant, egotistical and narcissistic president of the USA more than 4 decades before it actually happened! I mean where is his chief protagonist Johnny Smith when we need him?
This is a story about a man that has an accident that leaves him with psychic ability. But what do you do when you can see the future? Do you try to change it at any cost?
It is also incidentally the story of the 1970’s in the US. Beginning in 1970 and ending in 1979. The story spans a generation that saw the Vietnam War, Watergate and the invention of the calculator.
Recommended for those who want to try a Stephen King book that is not too scary - unless you are keeping up with current events that is.
