and addiction. so much of the author just really wanting to be british. jamie must take care of charlotte because he is the big strong man and she is a quirky gal! and just as the cherry on top:

jamie finds out that moriarty had his life destroyed because he procured COCAINE for a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD CHARLOTTE, and has the nerve to sympathize with him! and then think that it would have been better if poor 20 year old moriarty had fallen in love with 14 year old charlotte, because star crossed lovers negates age of consent, yes? and of course, charlotte destroyed moriarty's life when he rejected her, as any responsible adult should.
