Far From the Madding Crowd
by Thomas Hardy
I adore this book. It's beautiful and heartbreaking. Oh Bathsheba Everdene, you stupid beautiful fool. It's hard to judge you when so many of us have had to face similar situations. (Okay, maybe not being rich and beautiful but how we fall in love at the wrong time and have a man fall in love with us to the point of obsession.)
Hardy is perfection and his descriptions of the countryside left me breathless. Bonus: This was an audiobook adventure. Nathaniel Parker was the narrator (and who has played Gabriel Oak in a previous adaptation). It was perfect and I found myself entranced by the story. I'm off to find more of Hardy's works. It's a world I want to be in for quite some time.
