4 1/2 stars. I really enjoyed her writing style. She's extremely good at description without making it feel pretentious. I was terribly confused about a few things during the plot (which I'm sure will make sense once I finish the series) and this is one of those books where I'm very frustrated by the cliffhanger ending. I'll be needing to read the sequel a lot sooner than I had anticipated.
