Nevernight - Das Spiel by Jay Kristoff

positive:
super easy and quick read!
and mr kindly is cute and i want him!

negative?
plot? PFF! who needs actual plot of you can have teenage angst drama mixed with clumsy graphic bloody scenes and “romance” and lots of unnecessary swearing to make it seem as if this book is supposed to be adult but actually read super YA (not that there’s anything wrong with YA!)

characters?
what’s character growths if you can make them turn back time to childish behavior instead??

writing?
alright that’s not too bad! it’s super easy to read and overall not bad but honestly i don’t read this type of book to come out of it saying “oh the writing was alright i guess?”

i read this type of book to talk about how genius the characters and plot was written! how on the edge of my set i was in the fight scenes with the assassin! how i couldn’t get enough of the book because i wanted to learn more about the world and everything going on in it!

instead for got a -to me- badly written romance?
i am disappointed!
maybe because i got into this book with the wrong expectations!

everything i heard about this was all about how badass this series is how great the characters and unique the writing is and how it just sucks you in and it’s the best thing ever after the discovery of chocolate.

and it’s just not that for me.
for me this is a very average YA series with too much angst-y drama for my taste.

clearly that shows and says more about my personal reading and taste then the book itself but because i am so disappointed o can’t really talk objectively about this yet or ever who knows.

so far all i can say i don’t see the hype at all and i just don’t get it?
(also can someone please send me the right version of this series since i am 98% convinced i read something that was wrongfully titled as this series? because how can this be such a disappointment to me when apparently the entirety of the book world loves it?!?!)
