3.5 ~ Splendid idea, great themes, but an execution that could have been... a little better.

It felt like a brilliant celebration of black culture AND video game culture all in one! I can't speak exactly on what this representation means, but i have seen many black reviewers feel seen and celebrated and it's lovely (see Lauren or Bookishrealm for example).
It was also very interesting to delve into themes of sisterhood, online friendships and manipulative relationships (although it still could have been discussed in more depth..).

Despite this, i didn't completely adore the story because of a couple of elements which just seem too un probable for me.
- Firstly, the game. The game is so interesting and it was such fun reading about it! But how can such a great game, with so many players, just be created by a single teenager who has a lot of other stuff going on, and run only by a couple of admins? How is that even possible? It probably isn't.
- Secondly, something i won't get into too much without giving away spoilers, but the "twist" or "reveal" that we got was also unprobable in real life, and yet we really saw it coming... So... meh.

All in all, it's great to have a book like this, the messages it spreads is important and the game created within it is really interesting! I can't wait to see what else Brittney Morris has got up her sleeve.
