I'm a sucker for a good retelling, and while this was more of an "inspired-by" story rather than straight retelling, I really enjoyed it. I haven't read a YA fantasy story in a while and this was a good one to get back into the genre with. I liked the narrator a lot, and while this was another YA with a seemingly pointless love triangle, the story was overall intriguing and I loved the different mixes of magic and grief. Will definitely check out the next one(s)!
