4.5 stars.
I really enjoyed this first instalment in the Monsters and Billionaires series and was so caught up in the lives of Rand and Joe that I read it in one sitting.
Billionaire Rand tries his best to emulate his father but it’s slowing destroying him as it’s so unlike who he actually is. Joe, who escaped his Mafia family’s ways, works at Rand’s company where circumstances have them crossing each other’s path and entering each other’s orbit.
The forced proximity makes its impossible for these two very endearing men not to get to know each other. When they start working together in a professional capacity Joe’s authentic way of living his life slowly breaks down the facade Rand has erected. Privately the sizzling chemistry between them explodes and brings with it lots of heat, steam with just a touch more than vanilla and sweet tender moments.
All the while Joe has the issue of his mobster family wanting to make life very difficult for him. We are introduced to some cliché mobster stereotypes, some mobsters that I just wanted to hug and hang out with, the worlds best butler and a PA who just tells it like it is. They all make up for a wonderfully interesting cast of side characters and not to forget some more billionaires who give us a hint for what’s to come in the series. This first book left me smiling and I can’t wait for more.
