Beautifully unusual. 4.5 stars.

This is a captivating gothic tale of illegal romance combined with an intriguing mystery which also includes unexpected twists and turns along the way. Everett and Archie have the slowest of slow burns with just the occasional steamy moment although Everett does enjoy pleasurable times with others prior to meeting Archie.
It was very easy to get caught up in the drama of London in 1885 and all the prevailing attitudes of the time with the cast of main and secondary characters keeping things very interesting.
There’s no HEA or HFN but there’s plenty of the overarching story to be resolved in the next instalment.
