I want a copy of this book in hardcover for my personal collection. It is that good. Cinderella starts out as the classic story of wicked step-sisters partying while Cinderella does all the work. Then she asks her fairy godmother for a dress to go to the ball, and that is where the story takes on new life. Nothing is like it is in the magazine. I mean nothing! The dress isn’t as nice and the slippers are furry instead of glass. The ball is a dance competition, and the prize is not as lovely as it appears from the pages of a magazine. The ending just shoots this title over the moon. It is not your typical princess book, it’s about being powerful, being yourself, and not relying on a prince. The illustrations are fun and whimsical and just help make this a 5 star read.
