This book started out really good by giving us a very diverse cast. Men. Women. People from around the globe. An asexual and a gay dude!
Which made it all the more jarring that one of these characters was homophobic. But, alright, we apparently needed some infighting and tension.
But. What really bothered me is that nobody spoke up against the homophobic guy. Everyone was uncomfortable. And nobody seemed to be agreeing with him. But nobody spoke up. Nobody told him to shut up or keep it to himself. But they DID tell the gay dude to not escalate things, to not speak back, to not defend himself.
That.. made me really uncomfortable and took a lot away from what would otherwise have been an excellent sci-fi horror book
