I'm sad to say I didn't like it as much as the first book. I'm not sure I can express why; where the first one was slow, tender, and subtle, this one was too wordy, too in-your-face. The protagonist changed so it's not a surprise the tone of the book changed as well—and it didn't click with me the same way the first book did.
