Uhhhhh. Why does a book/series that focus so incredibly on intimate sex scenes also focus so much on rape. Of so many characters. In so many time periods and different ways? It reminds me of the SPOILER Outlander series, where the sex scenes are erotic and intense and then boom a guy is raped in gruesome detail (all rape is gruesome no matter the gender). I'm not sure I understand why the two are apparently mutually inclusive? Sure, rape happens, but I don't come to fiction to be reminded of that...right? *however novels like Speak come to mind at the moment, but so do words like tasteful*

Although I did cry like a baby at the ending of this one...so there's that.
