The Kindred Spirits Supper Club by Amy E. Reichert
4.0
lighthearted medium-paced

The Kindred Spirits Supper Club is a charming, ghostly rom-com that reads like a tribute to Wisconsin and the whimsical, touristy haven that is Wisconsin Dells. It's a book clearly written by someone who knows and adores the area, right down to the supper club rituals, Brandy Old Fashions, and small-town quirks. For anyone who's ever floated down the Dells’ lazy rivers or admired its kitschy Americana, it feels like coming home.

The story follows anxiety-riddled Sabrina, a reluctant returnee to her hometown, who soon finds herself entangled with a delightfully sweet love interest and a host of eccentric, chatty ghosts.

Despite sharing a name with the villain (which I’m willing to overlook, albeit with a raised eyebrow), I found the cast of characters delightful, especially the blend of warmhearted humans and lovable paranormal misfits. The romance is swoony and tender, but it is closed door with no spice.

But what it lacks in heat, it more than makes up for in heart. This is a book that loves its setting and its people. It’s a slice of Midwest magic wrapped in ghostly giggles and bratwurst-scented nostalgia.
