I was lucky enough to be able to read an ARC of this book earlier this year. What I love about it is that I know that any woman who reads it will be able to relate to it. It's real, it's raw, it's brutal, and it calls out a number of important issue in our society: Rape, rape culture, how so many people are willing to protect rapists when they are not the one who need or deserve protecting, how we are so quick to believe the words of a man over those of a woman, how easily and instinctively we make excuses for men even knowing that they have done something that is inexcusable. 

Aside from the importance of the message, I really appreciate all of the other elements of the books as well. The main character is relatable and the kind of person that you would want to know in real life. There's a ton of diversity that's done properly and not just for the sake of being able to say that its there. While the story itself is told from one person's POV, the main issue is covered from multiple perspectives so while Caitlin is dealing with her trauma you get to see the reactions of other characters and how it impacts her.

Jodi Picoult is my favorite author. Part of the reason for this is because she tackles so many issues that are relevant in our society, but somehow are constantly swept under the rug. She calls us on our shit and points out all of the mistakes and flaws making it known that they will not be excused any longer. And like Jodi called out rape culture in The Tenth Circle, Carla does the same thing here.
