While I found the concept of this story intriguing, it lacked in the execution. I wanted to love this one and I think I could have if it were more refined, but it read to me as a first draft that had not gone through professional editing yet, or something that an author would send to beta readers.

There were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book, often multiples on a single page. A few errors here and there don't generally bother me, it happens to everyone and editors don't even catch every single thing. But when the reader starts highlighting the errors after losing count at 10 and ends up adding an additional 27 highlights to what was already counted... that's enough to be constantly jarred out of the story and really affects the overall enjoyment.

However, as I said right from the start, the story itself was interesting and a unique spin on vampires and gargoyles which I would have loved to see explored in much more detail. I won't say more, because spoilers, but if the author were to hire a professional editor to help correct the errors as well as refine some confusing plot points and elaborate some aspects of the world building, I think this could be a solid book that would have received a much higher rating from me.
