The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
4.0

This is my second time reading this book. I mainly read it because I just saw the movie and wanted to give the book a second chance. When I read it the first time, I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't this book that turned me off, more like the second one, but I just couldn't find myself getting into the series like I wanted to. However, after seeing the movie, which I really enjoyed, I decided that maybe it was time to read the series again, see if I could make it further than the last time.

I will admit, I did enjoy it more during the second read through. It still isn't an amazing book in my eyes, and I'm still not a fan of the main characters, but I really enjoyed the games part of the book. It didn't click when I read it the first time, but it was actually very exciting and kept me going. During that section, I found that the book was hard to put down. However, part where everything was more peaceful, I found boring and it was a chore to get through.

I am not a big fan of Peeta or Katniss, but I do respect them in a way. But more than that, I really enjoy the side characters, which is something I remember liking when I read it the first time. Cinna and Haymitch are both wonderful characters that I enjoy reading about. This list also includes Rue and Prim, but more so Rue. I always find myself liking the side characters, but in this book I just seem to like them much more than the main characters, which kinda turns me off from a series.

This will not stop me from rereading the second book, and hopefully reading the 3rd book for the first time. I would like to see what happens and see if my opinion of the series changes as a whole. It already changed with the first book.
