Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors and I was very excited to read this book. I was not disappointed. I loved the plot and the characters. In the book, Dr. Julia Cates goes back to her small hometown in Washington to become a psychiatrist to an extremely traumatized young girl, after a scandal in LA. The book really touches on the feelings of Julia Cates, who was always a shadow under her older Homecoming Queen- turned Police Chief- older sister, Ellen. The book is a heart-wrencher and I enjoyed reading about the development of the young child, whom Julia decides to give the name Alice. Add in a hot doctor, for some romance and this book is a definite must read.
