Heart of the Matter
by Emily Giffin
I found this book made for incredibly uncomfortable reading. I guessed from the synopsis that there would be an affair, but I was still surprised at how awful it was to read. I've read many books about infidelity (being such a fan of 'chick lit') but I think with this book it was the juxtaposition of Tessa and Valerie's first person and third person narratives.
Despite it being an uncomfortable read, I did enjoy it - the writing was good (very good for the genre and I'll definitely be checking out more of Giffin's books) and I liked the characters, but there were aspects that weren't fleshed out enough for my liking and I didn't like the ending.
