Vortex Conundrum
by Louisa Masters
What an absolute delight this was to read. I loved every moment right from the start and it was wonderful to be back amongst the ghosts, humans and general mayhem of Mannix Estate. This time hotel manager Kieran gets his HEA when circumstances bring demon hunter Connor to the Estate.
We learn that the vortex is actually called a gateway and an unknown entity is making itself known. Kieran doesn’t get a very good first impression of the somewhat flirty, abrasive and annoying Connor but as they get to know one another better Kieran’s initial feelings change. There’s a bit of back and forth between them but they do both highly respect each other’s abilities in their chosen careers and recognise the chemistry that bubbling between them.
“When are you going to realise that the whole eighth-grade tease-the-person-you-like think doesn’t apply to adults in the real world? If you’ve got a thing for the foxy redhead, hit on him. Don’t torment him.”
This is an enjoyable and entertaining low heat romance balanced with an intriguing plot and a cast of interesting main and side characters. The antics of the ghosts had me giggling at times and the HEA for Kieran and Connor made my heart happy. I’m looking forward to Daniel and Skye having their story told next, especially after getting a glimpse into their dynamic!
