I have mixed feelings about this book... on the one hand, I loved the creativity of the main character. On the other hand, many of the other characters felt stereotyped. Especially the male ones. I couldn't tell Nick and Levi apart. But then again, I'm not much of a romance reader and love triangles are so much not my thing that the mere hint of them can make me dislike a story. So if, for some strange reason, you're going with my opinion to help you decide whether or not to read it, take this review with a pinch of salt. (Respectively, if you're already a fan of the book and you're reading my thoughts out of mere curiosity, feel free to mentally crucify me for that one.)
While reading I remarked lots of other small things, tiny details of description and dialogue, that made me snort, raise my eyebrows, roll my eyes or even cringe, but eventually they were all lost in the sheer force of the storytelling. I can't recall them. So much of Rainbow Rowell's style is so beautiful and left me speechless. So many perceptive and relatable passages. Such a sweet and bingeable story (not quite light-hearted, though. I don't wanna spoil, but you will feel all the feels. That'sone of the many things I love about Fangirl - it's not afraid to be emotional, dramatic, heartfelt). I especially liked the character of Cath and Wren's father. My heart ached along with our protagonist's concerning him, and I fumed and screamed internally at Laura whenever she was mentioned. I kid you not, this book makes you feel.
Definitely a keeper. I really love it. (And I kinda feel bad for that mean stuff I said at the top, but I'm leaving it in because disagreeing with hype makes me feel superior and that's just who I am as a person.)
