This was unfortunately just a stepping stone between book 1 & 3. It did set up for the next book to be great and hopefully action-packed, but this one fell flat for me.
I do LOVE these characters but I almost feel like I know too much about them… I understood the character analysis of the first book since it was the introduction to so many characters. However, this sequel was just as character based with little to no plot to back it up. Not to mention that EVERY CHARACTER WAS MOODY. They all played the same note and stayed that way to the end. AND even more characters got povs…my brain hurts.
It also infuriated me that certain povs would jump in time and make the reader do a lot of work to catch up in the dialogue between characters. Just….Tell me what happens without a 30 page ranty monologue. No one’s motivations were clear except when they were trying to find Libby.
Overall, disappointed with this sequel. I’m rating it 3 starts, however, because I feel like it’s almost there and maybe that’s why it’s so infuriating.
