You are immediately drawn into Catarina's story -- this is pretty inevitable when your teenage heroine has to eat the flesh of an almost dead person to gain immunity to a disease that would otherwise kill her. Okay, yes, it's a little grim.

What makes this dystopian so much cooler than any others I've read recently is that it is full of tech! Cool tech! The kind of tech you would stick in your arm right now because if you did you could change your hair, get over the flu, never need to buy deodorant again!

Unfortunately for Cat, she has a rare condition that means she can only have the most rudimentary tech installed. Despite this shortcoming, she is still a bad ass hacker, just like her dad taught her, who is just waiting for him to escape from the people who kidnapped him two years to force him to work on a cure for the disease ravaging humankind.

Yes, there is a boy. Yes, they like each other right away. But Suvada does a great job of having Cat examine her own motives about whether she really likes Cole or if it just a side effect of being in a thriller. I read reviews that were complaining about a love triangle, but it's just not true. Cat had a crush on a guy she hasn't seen in two years, and when he shows up again there's no rekindling (so calm down, love triangle haters, it's fine.)

TL:DR very exciting and futuristic.
