This ninth books takes place nine months after the events that took place in Blue Moon. Edward calls in the favor Anita owes him from a previous book, so she heads to New Mexico to make good. They are trying to get to the bottom of a series of murders, and the skinning of surviving victims. In this book, we get to learn more about Edward's mysterious personal life, and we meet other mercenaries who shed light on Edward. We meet several new characters in this book, and learn about Aztec vampires. It was a great book, mainly due to the insights about Edward.
