jennadianne 's review for:
A Window Opens
by Elisabeth Egan
** Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. **
First off, I want to say that I want to give this book more of a 2.5 stars then a 2. I overall enjoyed this book but felt like the issues that came to light kept going on forever. A lot of talking with no real resolution until the end when everything seemed to be fixed all at once. And even the resolutions led to a "happily ever after" in every aspect.
Alice is a woman who decided to go to work full-time when her husband decides he wants to start his own business. Alice is a working mom who is trying to "have it all". Her father is dying. Her husband develops a drinking problem. And soon her babysitter decides she wants more out of life than being the family babysitter.
As a working mom myself I can relate to Alice and her struggles. It was nice seeing that even fictional moms can't keep their shit together most times. I liked the overall lesson this book was trying to convey as well - that when one door closes, a window opens. That it's okay to not have it all and to not want what everyone else wants.
