Some fans may call this blasphemy, but I was so excited to get to Thatcher and Jane’s story that I skipped book 3 of this series. I’ll go back to book 3 eventually, just not now. I was happy to get to know Thatcher better because I think he was probably highly misunderstood by Farrow and Moffy. Turns out that despite seeming to have a stick up his butt, he has a deep loyalty and love for his family and takes his job very seriously. Jane and him seem to be an odd match from an outside perspective and I liked the implications of that. Society tends to judge couples based on how they look together rather than on compatibility and Jane specifically seems to feel that pressure. Thatcher loves Jane with all her quirks, awkwardness, and insecurity and he’s not shy about letting her know that. Thatcher is able to make Jane feel comfortable enough to share them with him and he responds to her insecurities with comfort and acceptance. Despite appearing very different on the outside, I think they both balance each other out. Thatcher is really caring and outside of her own family I don’t think Jane has ever felt cared for in a romantic context before. Thatcher is able to offer her that. Jane’s family and Akara are, understandably, not thrilled about the implications of them being together, but I would like to see how the dynamic between Thatcher and her siblings ends up working out. It will be interesting to see. I’m also really curious about Donnelly and Luna. I am now intrigued to see if they become an official couple and how well that will sit with Moffy (not well I suppose). Anyway, I’m looking forward to see how things develop in the next book.
