Group: How One Therapist and a Circle of Strangers Saved My Life
by Christie Tate
I checked out this book multiple times from the library because I couldn’t get through it each time in the two week hold period. I started in February and only finished it now because I didn’t want to leave it dangling unfinished for the year.
After reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb I had high expectations for another book about therapy, but Group did not land with me in the same way and I am somewhat baffled as to how it made it to Reese’s list. I guess it’s about a woman’s journey to healing and radical honesty, but it doesn’t provide like tips and tricks for other people in classic self-help style, it’s just a general memoir of how 5 years of twice a week group therapy helped this one woman.
Overall, I’d recommend you read Maybe You Should Talk to Someone instead.
