I really enjoyed this one. Every fairy tale, despite the fact that I've read so many versions of so many of them, felt fresh and compelling some with twists that made them feel brand new. 

At first, I didn't realize this was by the same author as The School for Good and Evil, but it makes so much sense as to why I felt the writing was so familiar. 

The illustrations were also a nice treat that added to the atmosphere of the story.
