The Last Paper Crane
by Kerry Drewery
The story follows the character of Icharo from the day of the Hiroshima bombing in 1945 to present day, it tells the tale of destruction and devastation and of his life time of guilt.
I found this book absolutely fascinating and heart breaking, I could not put it down. towards the end I actually got goosebumps from the anticipation! I really loved that it was written in a mixture prose, illustrations and free verse.
This is perfect way to teach young adults of the devastation of war and the compassion humans can show for each other in such trying times.
