bookbriefs 's review for:
Solid
by Shelley Workinger
This book was such a fast and interesting read. I really enjoyed it. It was a relatively short book, but there was a lot packed into under 250 pages. The story flowed really well, which makes reading a book so much more enjoyable. There were no slow or awkward parts.
I loved how the book was setup- there was just enough intrigue and mystery for me to not figure everything out on my own, but it was not so complex and confusing that I was completely lost. That is a really difficult balance to strike in the most mysterious books, and I thought that Solid did this excellently.
I do wish that they would have gone into detail about the teens abilities a little bit more. I was left hanging on what they can, exactly, do. Maybe it will be addressed more in the next book. At least, I hope it is. And I also thought that what happened at the end was a bit abrupt. It leaves me with a lot of questions. I supposed that is what the next book is going to be about, but I still wanted to get a few more questions answers while reading this book.
I thought Jack was adorable, and the stars thing was so sweet. I wish guys were actually like that in real life.
Overall, I thought Solid was really well thought out and super interesting. I loved how the story just flew right along, I never got bored or tired. I just wanted to keep reading. I am so eager to see where the next book is going to go. I think I am going to have to go pick up a copy ASAP. Great book!
