We Are All Guilty Here

Karin Slaughter
🕵🏻👮🏼‍♀️🧐

Plot summary: In a small town, two young girls go missing, and the resulting search for what happened changes the lives of those involved forever.

Characters: The story follows the life of Emmy Clifton, one of the police officers intimately involved with the missing persons case, as well as the lives of her family. The reader gets to watch as Emmy is forced to come to terms with the consequences of her potential inadequacy. Slaughter does such a wonderful job walking us through Emmy’s emotions and her growth as the story progresses.

Themes: The thriller touches upon a few dark themes, guilt being the primary one. Slaughter also touches upon the idea of family, addiction. friendship, and personal growth.

Overall, I really loved this. Like most of her books, this one had me guessing right up until the very end. It was dark and twisty and surprising. Slaughter is such a great author and such a great writer. I loved the characters, I loved the pacing, and I loved the vibe. I will continue to be a big fan.

I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys dark thrillers that may not have a happy ending.

Thank you to William Morrow, Kelsey Manning, and Karin Slaughter for the advanced copy. This has been the favorite ARC read of 2025 so far.
