Play to Win by Jodie Slaughter
3.0

Mini Audiobook Review - Thank you so much to MacMillan for the advance copy of this!

Gahhh I wanted to like this one more! I was such a fan of Slaughter's prior book Bet On It that I was looking forward to this one. It just didn't grab me as much as the last one did. The concept overall was great - a sole winner of a lottery ticket worth $212 million. I did not read the synopsis before hand so I actually thought she was going to have a relationship with the accountant that she worked with.

I didn't even mind that this was a second chance romance but what threw me was that she had been married for 8 years but never had any other relationship but wasn't with her husband?! That is a long time to be hanging onto that relationship. And that what also didn't work for me was that he was still interested after all this time when once again there was never any kind of communication? Why did he suddenly want to win her back?!  People do change after a year so after 8 years I imagine there was even more of a growth from the two of them.  Perhaps if they had already divorced or even wasn't married but just broke up and got back together, I would've been more invested?

I did like that we got to see Aja and Walker for a brief moment.

I will continue to check out Jodie's releases but this one just wasn't for me this time.
