I so wanted to like this book. Unfortunately I can not. I was looking forward to a book about a girl who didn’t want to be a princess in the first place, but no this girl wants to be a princess. She wants to wear a nice dress, have servants who do things for her, etc. That is until she realizes that princesses can not bake cookies with mom, or ride bikes with their best friend. Ughhh. So the wrong message to send. It should have been more Kate Middleton, and that Princesses can do those things, instead of they can’t. At first I loved the illustrations, until the one with mom in heels and an apron, telling her daughter she can't make cookies because she’s a princess.
